Celebrating a mechanical giant
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape being added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site Partnership has commissioned an exciting summer-long set of inspirational events. This includes the commission of the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain. The 12-metre high steam-powered giant: The Man Engine, will be travelling over 130 miles in 2 weeks with over 20 events on the route and 50,000 participants.
The brainchild of Will Coleman, of Cornwall’s Golden Tree Productions, part man, part machine, the towering metal ‘Man Engine’ will have a real fire in his belly, a beating beam-engine in his heart and the ‘entire Industrial Revolution in his head.’
To represent the magnitude of Will’s inspiring big idea, we developed a bold 3D logo graphic which provides a sense of drama and intrigue. This definitely comes into effect on the bus livery we developed as part of the marketing for The Man Engine: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/the-man-engine/
Using an open source mapping platform (Mapbox), we developed a website where users could easily navigate around to find out more information about the daily programme of events and exact locations. It’s going to be quite a show this summer!
