We're extremely proud of our Cornish heritage. Since 1986 we have helped numerous regional businesses develop and grow into international brands.

Our role has always been to orchestrate meaningful connections between brand and consumer, through a strong visual identity and language that is the red thread that runs through all communications, enabling brands to challenge perceptions and demonstrate that they can perform on an international stage.

We have developed our ‘Sense of Place’ framework to define the creative strategy and approach to design that delivers those meaningful connections.

Founded on a love for great, traditional ales and beers, St Ives Brewery have been hand crafting award-winning Cornish ales for over a decade.

Like the famous artists that have flocked to the town over the years, St Ives Brewery founder Marco is passionate about innovating with flavours, recipes and styles, creating exceptional beers that capture the unique essence of St Ives. This ethos is keeping him at the forefront of the rapidly evolving craft beer scene.

A decade in and St Ives Brewery is going from strength to strength. Our partnership goes deep, helping Marco and the team realise their vision, developing not only the brand, packaging and e-commerce, but also the business case and investor deck that underpin the future expansions and supermarket engagement plans.

“Gendall have been with us on this journey every step of the way, giving us a truly stand-out brand in the market place, that is making people look at us differently and has already opened many doors for us.”

Owner and Master Brewer

Our brand, logo design and tone of voice with a nod to the past and to the future reflects the defined brand purpose “to inspire the senses with drinking experiences that capture and compliment the sense of St Ives for beer lovers and holiday makers to enjoy”.

The bright, bold and contrasting colours of the illustrations reflect the colour palette and work of modern contemporary St Ives artists such as Patrick Heron and Bob Crossley.

Padstow Gin

The forces and rhythms change and shift the landscape in perpetual motion. The tide rises and falls, creating a scene that shifts under the gaze. And few places more dramatically so than Padstow and the Camel Estuary.

Our challenge was to distil Padstow.

We arrived at clarity by combining research and collaborative Discovery sessions with the team at Padstow Spirits using our Sense of Place framework. This led us to develop the brand strategy and creative direction that successfully captured the essence of Padstow and the sensations that people experience with the geography and ingredients.

“The food capital of Cornwall needed a Gin. We needed a design partner that could capture the unique essence of this beautiful place. In Gendall we found a perfect pairing.”

Cornish Sea Salt

Cornish Sea Salt is harvested from the crystal clear waters off mainland Britain’s most Southerly point. Careful positioning and simple values shaped the brand marque and packaging to deliver maximum shelf presence reflecting the pure natural values in the clean lines and simple form of the packaging.

The effectiveness of the brand is reflected in endorsements from celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, high volume sales - internationally selling in over 33 countries and in national outlets including Waitrose and Selfridges.

Simply Cornish Biscuits

Our challenge was to refresh the brand's visual language to distinguish it from their sister brand while retaining the heritage of 150 years being proudly hand crafted in Cornwall. With ambitious growth targets, the packaging also had to stand-out on shelf in major supermarkets, appealing to those who seek premium products with quality ingredients.

There was an opportunity to differentiate by promoting the strength of quality that comes with being hand-crafted in Cornwall.

Inspired by the colours and textures that this audience revel in when visiting Cornwall, our design direction successfully balanced Cornish heritage with premium style and substance.
